ABOUT POETRY ON FIRE

The Fire, the Love, the Move

Poetry on Fire is one ministry with two halves. We write the Word — books, blog posts, devotionals, discipleship and study material, livestreams, encouragement and pastoral ministry. And we carry the Word — standing with ministries who take the Name of Jesus into the nations and disciple every single person who answers Him.

The name was never meant to be a slogan. It is what three people were given to carry, and it is how the whole work holds together.

THE NAME

What the Fire, the Love and the Move actually mean

Someone once summed us up like this: “Philip is the Fire, Marilé is the Love.” And then came Noa, whose name means “Move of God.” Three names, and between them the shape of everything we do.

The Fire — Philip

Philip is our evangelist, and he sits on the missions team. He carries the Name of Jesus into the nations: working the soil months before a crusade night, sitting with the pastors of an area, coordinating, planning and partnering with ministries who want Jesus known and not themselves. The Fire is the going.

The Love — Marilé

Marilé writes. Books, blog posts and devotionals, discipleship and study material, livestreams, encouragement and pastoral ministry — words written to steady you, restore what has been worn down and lead you back to Jesus. The Love is the tending: what happens after someone says yes.

The Move — Noa

Noa is their daughter — prophetic, gentle, kind, radical, God’s heart walking on Earth — and her name means Move of God. The Move is what God does when the Word is both carried and tended: souls saved, disciples matured, churches strengthened, lives still walking with Jesus years later.

Fire without love burns out. Love without fire stays home. Together, they move. That is not a family motto — it is the structure of the ministry itself: the Word written, the Word carried, and the move of God in between.

THE WORK

Two halves of one work

The Word written

Books, blog posts and devotionals. Discipleship and study material for pastors and partners. Livestreams, encouragement and pastoral ministry, ministering the Word into real, every-day life. Two books are in the making: The Untamed Lion by Philip Strauss and Choose Your Hard by Marilé Strauss. The first is on its way.

The Word carried

Missions with ministries who disciple. More than six months of groundwork in an area, pastors and churches equipped and trained in Biblical discipleship, and then crusades where every salvation is discipled into maturity, welcomed into a local church and looked after long after the lights go down.

“Go” was never the whole sentence. “Go and make disciples” is. God’s heart beats for souls, and it breaks for discipleship. That is why we partner the way we do, and why we do not partner with everyone. We are not looking for converts. We are looking for disciples.

WHO WE ARE

We are the Strauss family

Philip, Marilé and Noa Strauss

A husband, wife, father, mother, daughter, leaders and pastors with a deep conviction for truth and restoration. We write from lived experience, from seasons that have stretched and refined us, and from a desire to see people return to what is authentic and lasting in God. Years in full-time ministry and years in the marketplace have shaped how we live this out: not only teaching faith, but practically living it in every area of life — at home, in friendships, in family, in ministry and in the marketplace.

Living the Word isn’t reserved for Sunday mornings. This is a place for those who want more than surface answers, where Scripture is lived, wrestled with, and allowed to speak into real, every-day life. In seasons of joy and in moments that feel like ashes, these words are written to steady you, restore what has been worn down, and lead you back to the One who remains faithful.

It is one thing to know the Bible. It is another thing to know the Word. Jesus is the Word, and His Word calls us back to Him in Spirit and in Truth — in word and action, in who we are and who we choose to become.

Acts 17:28 says, “For in Him we live, and move, and have our being…” We are not alive on Sundays only. We live for Jesus every single day, wherever we go, wherever we are, whatever we do — if we choose to be His vessels, His Poetry on Fire, His living Psalm.

BORN OF GOD

Where the name comes from

Poetry on Fire seal

Poetry on Fire is born from the heart of God through a powerful encounter that changed everything. It is a call to wholeness, depth and return — a place where words meet the sacred and the realness of daily life. No longer can we allow ourselves to only hear the Word, or only speak the Word. God is calling us to be doers of His Word.

“Don’t just listen to the Word of Truth and not respond to it, for that is the essence of self-deception! Always let His Word become like poetry written and fulfilled by your life!” — James 1:22 (TPT)

In The Passion Translation, the Book of Psalms is referred to as Poetry on Fire. And our final foundational Scripture is Ephesians 2:10 (TPT): “We have become His poetry, a re-created people that will fulfill the destiny He has given each of us, for we are joined to Jesus, the Anointed One.”

PARTNERSHIP

What your partnership carries

Partnership is not support for a platform. It is you, standing in the work with us — and this is exactly what it carries:

  • Groundwork before the crusades — the months of preparation on the ground with local pastors and churches, long before anyone preaches.
  • Pastors and churches equipped — discipleship training, conferences and impartation that feed whole congregations.
  • Crusades that disciple — every salvation followed up, welcomed into a local church and walked into maturity.
  • Materials and books — discipleship and soul-winning resources for pastors, study material for partners, and the books in the making: The Untamed Lion by Philip Strauss and Choose Your Hard by Marilé Strauss.
  • The platforms — this website, our store, our livestreams and everything that carries these words further than we could on our own.

The Gospel is absolutely free. Getting it out there is not. God supplies every need, and our trust is in Him always.
