WHY WE PUBLISH
Write the vision, make it plain
“Write the vision and make it plain on tablets, that he may run who reads it” (Habakkuk 2:2). The Hebrew word for make it plain is ba’er. It means to make something distinct and clear, the same word used when Israel was told to write the law on the stones very plainly (Deuteronomy 27:8). God was not only asking the prophet to write. He was asking him to write in a way that someone else could pick up, understand and run with.
That is what a book does. It takes what God has spoken to you in the secret place and carries it into rooms you will never stand in. A devotional on a nightstand. A testimony passed from one hand to another. A teaching that a small group works through over coffee. The words keep running long after you have written the last page.
We know this road because we are walking it ourselves. Choose Your Hard by Marilé Strauss and The Untamed Lion by Philip Strauss are both being brought to life under the Poetry on Fire name. We know the excitement of the first draft, the long middle, the edits that sting a little and the joy of holding the finished book. We would count it a privilege to walk that road with you.
WHO WE PUBLISH
Books that honour Jesus
Whether it is a devotional, a discipleship study, your testimony, a collection of poetry, a story or a book for children, the question we ask is simple. Does it honour Jesus? If it does, we would love to hear about it.
Your book will carry the Poetry on Fire name as its publisher. That matters to us, because it means we stand behind every book we release. We will be honest with you, we will pray with you, and we will not put our name to something we cannot stand behind before the Lord.
HOW WE WALK WITH YOU
From the first page to the last
Every author arrives at a different place. Some have an idea and a burning heart. Others have a finished manuscript and need help getting it to readers. You choose the parts of the process you need, and we walk with you through them.
Writing coaching
For when the message is in you but the pages are not yet. We help you shape your ideas, find your structure and keep going through the long middle.
Editing and proofreading
From shaping the whole manuscript to checking every comma, so that your words carry the weight they deserve and the reader is never pulled away from the message by a mistake.
Cover design
A cover that says what your book is about before anyone opens it, and that looks at home on a shelf or a phone screen.
Layout and typesetting
The inside of the book prepared for print and for e-readers, so that it is easy and beautiful to read.
ISBN and publishing
Your book registered and published under the Poetry on Fire imprint.
E-book and print
Your book prepared as an e-book, a printed book, or both.
Getting your book to readers
Help with making your book available and letting people know it exists, so that it reaches the people it was written for.
