“For we, though many, are one bread and one body; for we all partake of that one bread.”
1 Corinthians 10:17 NKJV
Co. is short for company, and company is an old word with bread inside it. It comes from the Latin com, together, and panis, bread. A companion is someone you share bread with. A company is a table full of them.
That is the picture we wanted. We are not a church and we are not a denomination. We are a company of believers from every part of the Body, gathered around one table and one Lord.
Think of the two disciples on the road to Emmaus. Jesus walked beside them for miles and opened the Scriptures, and still they did not recognize Him. Then He sat at their table, took the bread, blessed it and broke it, and their eyes were opened. Later they told the others how “He was known to them in the breaking of bread” (Luke 24:35).
Discipleship happens at tables. Over coffee, over a meal, over an open Bible on the kitchen counter. That is where we want to meet you.
