“And the word of the Lord was being spread throughout all the region.”
Acts 13:49 NKJV
When Luke wrote that God’s word spread through the whole region, he used the Greek verb diapherō. Dia means through. Pherō means to carry. The Word was carried through the region.
He also wrote it in a tense that keeps moving. It was being carried, and it went on being carried. There was no single big meeting followed by silence. It went from one life to the next, day after day, the way a fire jumps from bush to bush across a mountainside in summer.
That is how the Word has always spread. After Stephen was stoned, the believers in Jerusalem were scattered, and “those who were scattered went everywhere preaching the word” (Acts 8:4). They were not preachers by title. They had been driven from their homes, and they carried Jesus with them wherever they landed.
You do not need a platform to carry the Word. You need to have been with Jesus, and to let it show in your kitchen, at your desk, in your WhatsApp groups and in the car on the school run.
Let His Word spread like wildfire
It starts with the fire He kindles in you. Today, write down the names of three people you will see this week. Ask Jesus which one needs to hear from Him through you.
